The event is a great opportunity for people in the poultry industry to display their best birds, as well as meet other poultry enthusiasts. What Makes the Vermont Green Mountain Poultry Show a Must-Attend Event?

The Vermont Green Mountain Poultry Show & Sales is the largest poultry show in the state. It draws nearly 300 birds, 75 percent of which are from out of state. Most people enter between five and 15 birds. Entrance to the show costs about $80-100. A vet’s visit is included in that cost. Organizers hope to have the show on the schedule later this month.
In addition to poultry, livestock is sold for sale. These animals must meet USDA standards for official identification. Livestock for sale include dairy and beef cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, and camelids. They are sold for food production, slaughter, or for the purpose of sale or exhibit.

The Vermont Green Mountain Poultry Show & Sales is a free show for the public that supports livestock production and livestock health. During the show, livestock and poultry are tested for avian influenza and Salmonella pullorum for free. To be eligible for a free test, livestock owners must register their animals at the Animal Health Section bird testing station.
The show is open to all breeds of poultry, and youth may enter up to two hens. Breeds that have more than eight entries will show in their own class. Breeds that have less than eight entries will show in the All Other Breeds class. Youth can register any breed using the registration form. If they want to purchase Golden Comet chicks, they can register up to 2 hens.

Are You Ready to Bid on Rare Poultry at the Vermont Green Mountain Show?

The Vermont Green Mountain Poultry Show & sale features both exhibits and auctions. The highest bidder wins the lot. However, the Auctioneers have the right to refuse a bid in case of a dispute. Payment may be made in cash, traveler’s checks, or an approved personal check. The purchaser is also required to pay the 6% Vermont state sales tax.

Where Can You Find the Best Poultry at Vermont’s Green Mountain Show?

Vermont is home to several livestock and poultry shows. The state Agency of Agriculture, Food, and Markets supports several livestock and poultry shows. At this Vermont poultry show, free testing for avian influenza and Salmonella pullorum will be available for participating poultry owners. You can register your birds for the test at a booth set up by the Animal Health Section.
This annual event will feature live poultry displays. There will be judging and 4-H showmanship demonstrations. A raffle and silent auction will round out the event. A food court will be open throughout the event, including barbecue from Dug’s Blow’n’Smoke.
