Steve Lackey is an animal lover and is an active member of the 4-H club in his area. He joined nearly 20 years ago and led the swine club, challenging his members to learn more about the animal they were raising. He also made house calls to check on the animals.
Betty was very dedicated to children, and she taught 4-H youth and children from her church for nearly 30 years. She also mentored young men in the Boy Scouts of America and led their Webelos and Blazer groups. She even volunteered at a local kindergarten. She also superintendenced the agriculture and home-preserving exhibits at the fair. She was active in many community groups, and she found ways to build synergies among them.

What Surprises Does Lori Willman Have in Store for the Arizona Graham County Fair Poultry Show?

Lori Willman was born in Flagstaff and has been a member of the Arizona 4-H program for five years. She is an award-winning dairy goat demonstrator, winning the Shield & Clover award in the state 4-H challenge competition. She also served as the goat project leader for the Cinder Hillbillies 4-H club for one year. Since then, she has been a 4-H leader and has provided technical information for nearly twenty years. She also serves on the Demonstration Contest Day judges panel in Southern Coconino County.
As a child, Karen’s family purchased a ranch near Casa Grande, and she spent her summers there. After graduating from the University of Arizona, she moved to Casa Grande and became a volunteer for 4-H. Her projects focused on clothing and livestock, especially the carcasses. She also served on the Pinal 24 Junior Livestock Committee for two decades, where she helped to create a carcass contest.

Gary Watson has a passion for poultry. A native of Arizona, he grew up in Kingman and studied abroad at the University of Bonn, Germany, with the American Institute for Foreign Study. He was a 4-H member and raised his first market steer in 1959.

Jan and Alan Dawson have been involved in 4-H for many years. Jan joined the club in Kansas when she was nine years old and became involved in gardening, sewing, cooking, and showing cattle. She also became the community leader of the Tanque Verde Community Club and has volunteered her time to help the youth club grow and develop. She has always stressed the importance of sportsmanship and teamwork.
Among the many activities at the fair, a shooting sports competition and a shotgun shoot are two of the highlights of the day. The fair also hosts dog and broiler chicken shows and an Achievement Night judging ceremony. The event is free and open to the public.
