The Rhode Island Little Rhody Poultry Fancies Annual Fall Poultry Festival is the largest gathering of poultry lovers in New England. Each year, the event features more than 50 species of birds. The event is held at Greenvale Farm in Portsmouth and pairs estate-grown wine with live jazz. The event runs from May through September. The farm produces Albarino, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris Ramato, Meritage, Cabernet Franc, and more. The event also features specials on local food artisans and creative cocktails.

The annual Fall Poultry Festival is a great way to learn about the different breeds of chickens and turkeys in Rhode Island. The event also includes a model train expo sponsored by the Little Rhody Division of the National Model Railroad Association. The show will feature working model railroad layouts in a variety of scales and select vendor tables. Admission to the event is $5 per person and free for kids 12 and under. The maximum number of tickets per family is $20.

The Rhode Island Little Rhody Poultry Fancers annual fall poultry festival is held in October. More than 45 wineries, breweries, and artisan food vendors will participate in this year’s festival. There are also two weeks of dining specials throughout the state, including prix-fixe menus, BOGO deals, and deep discounts. Restaurants participating in the festival will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They will also have drink specials.
The Rhode Island Red chicken was one of the most popular production breeds during the mid-19th century. Egg-laying contests were a regular event, and popular national poultry magazines regularly reported on the results. The April 1945 issue of the Poultry Tribune reported that the Rhode Island Red chickens were the winners of a total of 13 egg-laying contests. The breed was admitted into the American Poultry Association Standard of Perfection in 1904.
