Which Club is Home to Bantam Chickens and Ducks in Massachusetts?

The Brown Egg Blue Egg is a Massachusetts bantam chicken and duck club that focuses on the development of the breed. They encourage responsible keeping and breed improvement, as well as educate and support bantam chicken and duck enthusiasts. The group is one of the oldest bantam clubs in the country, dating back to 1931. The club’s name owes its origins to its founder, Dr. Martin Silverudd.
Despite their small size, bantam breeds are hardy and have a variety of personalities. Dutch bantams are famous for being excellent layers, laying up to 160 cream colored eggs a year. The breed is also known for being broody, with many of its hens laying multiple clutches of eggs per year. Pekin bantams are a rare breed, believed to have originated from China. Their small, round bodies are covered in feathers so dense that it’s hard to see their feet.
Bantam chickens and ducks are the most popular type of chickens to raise for egg production. Bantams tend to lay slightly smaller eggs than standard hens, making them a great choice for families with young children. Some breeds lay blue eggs, but it depends on the color of the eggshell. In some cases, the blue eggshell is blue on the outside, but the inside is a normal color.
